What Are Chart Templates?

A chart template saves your entire chart configuration — indicators, chart type, colors, timeframe, drawing tools, and layout settings — into a reusable preset. Instead of manually adding indicators and adjusting settings every time you open a new chart, you can load a saved template in one click and have everything set up exactly the way you like it.

For Volensy users, templates are especially valuable because you can create pre-configured setups for different strategies, markets, or trading styles. Imagine switching from your “Crypto Scalping” setup to your “Forex Swing Trading” setup in a single click.

Saving Your First Template

After you have configured your chart with the Volensy indicators, chart type, colors, and settings you prefer, follow these steps to save it as a template.

Step 1: Confirm Your Setup

Before saving, double-check that your chart has everything you want included in the template:

  • The correct indicators are loaded and configured.
  • Chart type is set (e.g., Candlestick).
  • Colors, grid lines, and background are adjusted.
  • Any drawing tools you want to persist are in place.
Note: Templates save indicator settings and chart appearance but do not save the specific asset (ticker) or alerts. When you load a template on a different chart, it applies to whatever asset that chart is displaying.

Step 2: Open the Template Menu

  1. Click the down arrow next to the chart type icon in the top toolbar, or look for the Templates option in the top toolbar area.
  2. Alternatively, right-click on the chart background and look for a Save or Template option in the context menu.

Step 3: Save as Template

  1. In the template dropdown, click Save Indicator Template (or “Save As” depending on your TradingView version).
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the template. Use a naming convention that helps you identify the setup quickly, for example:

– “Volensy – QQE + RSI RMI – 4H”
– “Crypto Scalping – 5m Setup”
– “Forex Swing – EMA + ATR SuperTrend”

  1. Click Save.

Your template is now stored in your TradingView account and available on any device where you log in.

Step 4: Verify the Save

Open the template menu again. You should see your newly saved template listed. TradingView also maintains a Default template that represents the out-of-the-box configuration.

Loading a Template

To apply a saved template to any chart:

  1. Open the chart for the asset you want to analyze.
  2. Open the Templates menu from the top toolbar.
  3. Click on the template name you want to load.
  4. The chart will immediately update with all the saved indicators, settings, and configurations.

The asset (ticker symbol) remains unchanged — only the chart setup is applied. This means you can load your “Volensy – QQE + RSI RMI – 4H” template on BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, EURUSD, or any other chart.

Warning: Loading a template replaces your current chart configuration. If you have unsaved changes to your current setup, save them as a separate template first to avoid losing your work.

Creating Multiple Templates for Different Strategies

One of the most powerful uses of templates is maintaining different setups for different trading scenarios. Here are some practical examples:

By Trading Strategy

| Template Name | Indicators | Use Case |
|—|—|—|
| Momentum Scalping | QQE MOD + RSI RMI | Fast entries on momentum shifts |
| Trend Following | EMA25 Strategy + ATR & SuperTrend | Riding longer trends |
| Volume Breakout | Order Flow Volume Spike + Momentum ATR Filter | Catching volume-driven breakouts |
| Pattern Trading | Rounding Bottom + Three White Soldiers | Identifying chart pattern setups |

By Market

| Template Name | Configuration | Market |
|—|—|—|
| Crypto Setup | Higher TP/SL tolerance, 1H-4H timeframes | BTC, ETH, SOL pairs |
| Forex Setup | Tighter parameters, 15m-1H timeframes | EUR/USD, GBP/USD pairs |
| Stock Setup | Daily timeframe focus, trend indicators | AAPL, TSLA, SPY |

By Timeframe

| Template Name | Timeframe | Style |
|—|—|—|
| Quick Scalp | 1m – 5m | Fast trades, high frequency |
| Intraday | 15m – 1H | Day trading setups |
| Swing View | 4H – 1D | Multi-day positions |

Managing Your Templates

Renaming a Template

  1. Open the Templates menu.
  2. Hover over the template you want to rename.
  3. Click the edit or pencil icon.
  4. Enter the new name and save.

Deleting a Template

  1. Open the Templates menu.
  2. Hover over the template you want to remove.
  3. Click the X or delete icon.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

Updating an Existing Template

If you have modified a template’s setup (changed an indicator setting, added a new indicator, or adjusted colors), you can overwrite the existing template:

  1. Make your changes on the chart.
  2. Open the Templates menu.
  3. Save with the same name as the existing template.
  4. Confirm that you want to overwrite.

Sharing Chart Layouts

TradingView allows you to share your chart with others through its built-in sharing features. While this is different from templates (which are personal), it can be useful for sharing your Volensy setups with fellow traders.

Publishing a Chart Idea

  1. Click the Publish button (camera icon) in the top toolbar.
  2. Add a title, description, and tags.
  3. Choose whether the idea is public or unlisted.
  4. Click Publish.

Your chart, including any visible indicators and drawing tools, becomes viewable by others via a shareable link.

Note: Published charts show your indicator setup visually, but other users cannot directly copy your indicator configuration. They will need to add the same Volensy indicators to their own charts manually. Premium (invite-only) indicators will only work for users who have their own active Volensy subscription.

Sharing a Chart Link

For quick sharing without publishing:

  1. Click the Share button (or use the camera/snapshot icon).
  2. Select Copy Link to get a shareable URL.
  3. Send the link to your fellow trader.

The recipient can see your chart snapshot but will need to replicate the setup on their own account.

Using Chart Layouts (Multi-Chart Setups)

In addition to templates, TradingView offers Layouts — saved arrangements of multiple charts on a single screen. If you have a paid TradingView plan that supports multiple charts per tab, you can:

  1. Arrange multiple charts side by side (e.g., BTCUSDT on the left with QQE MOD, ETHUSDT on the right with ATR & SuperTrend).
  2. Save the entire layout by clicking Layout in the top-right corner and selecting Save.
  3. Load it later to restore the exact multi-chart arrangement.

Layouts are ideal for traders who monitor several assets or timeframes simultaneously.

Tips for Effective Template Use

  1. Use clear, consistent naming — Include the strategy, timeframe, and key indicator in the name.
  2. Keep templates focused — Each template should serve a specific purpose. Avoid creating a “kitchen sink” template with every indicator loaded.
  3. Review and update regularly — As you refine your trading approach, update your templates to reflect your current preferred settings.
  4. Start with a “Base Template” — Create one template with your preferred chart appearance (colors, grid, background) but no indicators. Use this as a clean starting point before adding strategy-specific tools.
